Looshaus
In Vienna, there are so many historical houses and mansions that tourists usually go to. In the 1st District alone, there are already numerous sights to see including the Looshaus.
Looshaus was built by the one of the fathers of the modern architecture in the twentieth century. Adolf Loos built the Looshaus in 1911. Tourists would not miss this ancient architecture because it is just located adjacent to the entrance of the Imperial Palace. However, the Looshaus is nothing but an architecture that symbolizes the war.
The architects of Vienna became fed up with the neo-Baroque and Baroque style that lasted for at least 200 years. The architectural revolution was led by Adolf Loos. His first creation after the transformation was entitled Ornament and Crime. The masterpiece battled against the traditional architectural style that was prevalent during the 19th century.
Adolf Loos improved the appearance of the buildings that were very plain yet functional at the same time. When the Looshaus was built by Adolf Loos in 1911 for the men’s clothiers named Goldman and Salatsch, the city was in distress. The Archduke Franz Ferdinan, who is the successor to the throne that time, was offended with all the architectural revolutions. As a result, he vowed not to use the Imperial Palace entrance which they call the Michaelerplatz, just in front of the Looshaus.
Today, Looshaus is considered as a mere architectural sight. It has lost its ability to astonish the people. The façade of the Looshaus even lost its astounding feature and now became a simple and bland building. However, the interior of the Looshaus hasn’t lost its essence yet. There are still more breathtaking surprises that visitors would surely love to see. You can now find one of the most stunning banks in Vienna. Tourists and locals can also go and have a tour inside the Looshaus where they can see the exquisite staircase and magnificent chambers.
